freeicecream.net (2020)
freeicecream.net is an experimental multimedia work exploring how our desire for connection entangles us with information technologies. As a hybrid virtual/physical network of human and non-human agents, the development of the piece is both influenced and guided by the emergent behaviors of the system’s inhabitants. Robots, sensors and cameras around the space communicate with each other through a wireless network, leading to a distributed decision-making process that underlies the progression of events.
The documentation seen here is a recording of the livestream premiere of the work, which took the form of a performative exploration of the space broadcast to Twitch. Upcoming iterations of the work will invite participants to take the place of the performer, exploring the space and human-computer interactions firsthand.
